زمینه و هدف: نقایص شایع شناختی بیماران دارای ام.اس شامل حافظه، نقایص تفکر رویدادی آینده و مشکلات مربوط به کارکردهای اجرایی می‌باشند. هدف پژوهش حاضر تعیین اثربخشی تصویر‌سازی دیداری ذهنی بر حافظه سرگذشتی، تفکر رویدادی آینده و حل مسئله اجتماعی در بیماران مبتلا به ام.اس بود.
روش ­ها: پژوهش نیمه‌تجربی با طرح پیش ­آزمون-پس ­آزمون با گروه کنترل همراه با دوره‌ی پیگیری یک‌ماهه انجام شد. جامعه آماری این مطالعه شامل کلیه زنان مبتلا به مالتیپل اسکلروزیس عضو انجمن ام.اس شهر اراک در سال 1401 بود که 28 نفر به روش نمونه‌گیری مبتنی بر هدف انتخاب و به صورت تصادفی به دو گروه آزمایش و کنترل  (14= تعداد) تخصیص یافتند. افراد گروه آزمایش در 6 جلسه 80 دقیقه ­ای تحت آموزش تصویر‌سازی دیداری ذهنی (پروتکل ارنست، 2012) قرار گرفتند. آزمون حافظه سرگذشتی، تفکر رویدادی آینده و حل‌مسئله اجتماعی برای ارزیابی استفاده شد. داده‌ها با نرم­افزار SPSS نسخه 28 و آزمون تحلیل واریانس با اندازه‌گیری مکرر تجزیه و تحلیل شدند.
نتایج: بیشتر افراد گروه آزمایش متاهل (57/1 %) و تحصیلات دیپلم (57/1 %) داشتند. نیمی از آن­ها در بازه سنی 39-29 سال (%50) و فقط 50% شاغل بودند. همچنین در هر دو گروه بیشترین مدت زمان ابتلا به بیماری مربوط به بازه زمانی10-6 سال بود. نتایج نشان داد تصویر‌سازی دیداری ذهنی بر حافظه سرگذشتی، تفکر رویدادی آینده‌نگر و حل‌مسأله اجتماعی بیماران مالتیپل اسکلروزیس اثربخش است (0/001p<). همچنین اثرات بهبودی مداخله پس از یک ماه پیگیری محفوظ بود (0/05>p).
نتیجه ­گیری: استفاده از روش درمانی تصویر‌سازی دیداری ذهنی جهت بهبود نارسائی‌های شناختی در افراد مبتلا به ام.اس پیشنهاد می‌گردد.
