زمینه و هدف: مطالعه در زمینه پیری و تغییرات آن در طول زمان و شناسایی عوامل مؤثر بر این فرآیند، اهمیت زیادی دارد. هدف از پژوهش حاضر بررسی رابطه بین کلیشه های سنی با توانمندی شناختی سالمندان و تحلیل نقش میانجی آگاهی از تغییرات وابسته به سن می باشد.
روش ها: روش پژوهش حاضر همبستگی از نوع مطالعات ساختاری است. جامعه پژوهش شامل کلیه سالمندان مقیم در خانه سالمندان (مراکز مهرگان، مهرنیکان و ارم) در آذر ماه سال 1402 بود. تعداد 230 نفر سالمند واجد شرایط به صورت در دسترس به عنوان نمونه پژوهش انتخاب شدند. واحدهای پژوهش به پرسش نامه کلیشه‌های سنی نصرتی و همکاران (1401)، پرسشنامه توانمندی شناختی نجاتی(1392) و پرسش نامه آگاهی از تغییرات وابسته به سن نصرتی و همکاران (1402) پاسخ دادند. داده های حاصل از پرسشنامه ها با استفاده از روش ضریب همبستگی پیرسون و مدل معادلات ساختاری در نرم‌افزارهای SPSS نسخه 21 و Amoss نسخه 24 مورد تحلیل قرار گرفتند.
نتایج: نتایج به دست آمده از مطالعه نشان داد که بین متغیرهای کلیشه‌های سنی با توانایی‌های شناختی همبستگی مثبت و معناداری در سطح 0/001 p= و 0/390 r= وجود دارد. همچنین بین تغییرات منفی وابسته به سن با توانایی های شناختی همبستگی مثبت و معناداری در سطح 0/001p= و 0/347 r = وجود دارد اما بین تغییرات مثبت و منفی وابسته به سن با کلیشه های سنی همبستگی معناداری مشاهده نشد.
نتیجه گیری: با توجه به تایید مدل پژوهش، به نظر می‌رسد آگاه‌سازی سالمندان از تغییرات وابسته به سن می‌تواند در توانمندی شناختی سالمندان نقش مهمی را ایفا کند. نتایج این مطالعه می‌تواند به متخصصین حوزه سالمندی کمک‌کننده باشد.
