Abstract

Background and Aims: Premature baby mothers are more anxious than other parents. High levels of anxiety change the interactions between mother and baby and have negative consequences which cause anxiety disorders and cause their parents to fail to play their roles well. This anxiety can be effective on the growth of baby. Therefore, this study was conducted to control their anxiety and to provide training for them. Materials and Methods: This study was a clinical trial study (code: 18035N1) on 50 primiparous mothers with premature infants at Nohom DeyHospital of Torbat Heydariyeh . The simple random method assigned to experimental and control groups. The tool was Spielberger anxiety questioner. One day after being admitted to the newborn, neonatal care, was given to intervention group in 45 to 60 minutes. Mothers’ level of anxiety was collected two times, 24 hours after admission (pretest) and at discharge from the neonatal unit (post-test) and the results were analyzed through chi-square and t-test. Results: In demographic variables there was no significant difference between the two groups (p < 0/005). Before the intervention, the mean anxiety scores in intervention group and control group were 63/67 ±8/32 and 58/17±10/03, respectively. There was no significant difference (p = 0/431) while the mean anxiety scores after the intervention in intervention group and control group were 29/41±9/06 and 67/15±12/3 (p = 0/002), respectively. Conclusion: The present study showed that infant care training reduces anxiety in mothers of preterm infants, so this strategy can be applied by the authorities to reduce the consequences of the problem caused by this anxiety for mother and baby

Abstract

Background & Aims: Drug addiction is a complex disease that has the fourth place in death rate after accidents, stroke and burn in our country. Although non-pharmaceutical methods have an important role in addiction treatment, there is limited information about the advantages of them. This study is carried out to investigate the impact of client education in the NA meetings on tendency to use drugs.

Methods: This study is a clinical trial study which people were randomly selected and divided into two control and intervention groups. The tools include two demographic and tendency to use the drugs standard questionnaires. The intervention group participated in 12 sessions of 90 minutes in Narcotics Anonymous meetings and after 3 months the results of pre and post intervention in both groups were compared.

Results: The results showed that the average age of participants was 33.54±9.3. Most of the participants had high school diploma degree. The most used drug was Opium. The participation of clients in the Narcotics Anonymous meetings was effective on tendency to use drugs (p=0.002).

Conclusion: Based on the results, Education in the NA meetings probably results in fewer tendencies to use drugs. Therefore, organizations and responsible centers should support the clients to continue addiction treatment by holding the meetings in a better condition.

Abstract

Angioedema is a rare disease with autosomal dominant is largely complement system. This disease is characterized by non-itchy mucocutaneous and non-pitting edema. In some cases, this disease appears as a result of Captopril intake which is orally and sublingually used in the treatment of severe hypertension.

In this study, angioedema as a rare complication of Captopril sublingual intake was investigated in a 49-years-old patient. In several hours after taking Captopril, patient showed the Angioedema signs. Due to severe edema of tongue, lips and larynx, quick tracheostomy was performed and patient was hospitalized in intensive care unit. Having started the treatment measures and hospitalization, the patient discharged with good general condition.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Chylothorax is a rare complication that is created following the leakage of lymph fluid from thoracic duct into the pleural space. This situation reduces the lung volume and in case of not being controlled, can lead to respiratory distress, cyanosis and even death. This study introduces a case of traumatic chylothorax.

Case Report: In this study, the patient was a 12 year old female experiencing shortness of breath and respiratory distress since 5 months ago following trauma to the chest during play at school. After conducting laboratory tests and chest X-ray, bilateral chylothorax was diagnosed for the patient and then bilateral chest tube was placed and thoracic duct was blocked. The patient was hospitalized for 4 days in intensive care unit and then transferred to department of Thoracic with good general condition. Finally, after several days of hospitalization, the patient was discharged with normal general condition.

Conclusion: Timely diagnosis and treatment of chylothorax have a major role in saving patient's life and can prevent complications due to lung problems.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Type 2 diabetes is one of the most common endocrine disorders, which can include Lack of blood sugar control, multiple cardiovascular problems, and decreased cognitive function . The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a combined exercise course physical fitness, cognitive function and glycemic control in women with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: 21 female participants with type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into training (12) and control (9) groups. The combined exercise training program included aerobic, resistance and balance training that were performed for 12 weeks (3 sessions per week). Before and after the training period, fasting blood samples were taken from all subjects to measure serum HbA1c and glucose. Also, VO2max, static and dynamic balance and upper and lower body muscle strength were measured. Cognitive function was assessed using Digit symbol substitution and Forward digit span tests. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance at the significant level of P <0.05.
Results: Glycosylated hemoglobin and glucose levels in the intervention group showed a significant decrease compared to the control group. Except for static balance in the experimental group, physical fitness improved significantly compared to the control group. Cognitive function did not show a significant change between the two groups.
Conclusion: Combined exercise can improve fitness and glycemic control in women with type 2 diabetes. These training have no effect on cognitive function.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Autism spectrum disorder is one of the psychological disorders in children. Timely and accurate diagnosis of this disorder is of great importance in providing appropriate care and treatment for children. The main objective of this research is to emphasize the significance of features related to autism and their diagnosis using an intelligent model, as some of these features have higher priority.
Methods: For this purpose, the principal component analysis (PCA) method was employed to prioritize the features, and after extracting the optimal features, automatic disease diagnosis was performed using artificial neural networks.
Results: The data used in this study were collected from the Kaggle dataset, including 1054 individuals, out of which 728 were diagnosed with autism and 326 were healthy. The results of this study indicate that the gradual elimination of features and reduction from 18 to 12 features can lead to achieving the same accuracy in diagnosing the autism spectrum using artificial neural networks.
Conclusion: Reducing the number of features in artificial intelligence models for autism diagnosis not only improves and optimizes the diagnostic process but also helps in reducing parental stress and preserving their privacy due to the reduced number of questions. Ultimately, this leads to the generation of models with better performance and interpretability.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Emotional intelligence plays an important role in people's mental health, and its disorder endangers a person's mental health, so it is very important to pay attention to this aspect of intelligence during the outbreak of Covid-19. The aim of this research was to investigate emotional intelligence in patients who have recovered from the disease of covid-19 and people who have not been infected.
Methods: The current research was a causal-comparative study. The statistical population was the patients who recovered from covid-19 and were discharged from the 9-Day Hospital of Torbet Heydarieh city, 352 people were selected using the available sampling method. The research tool was Schering's Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using chi-square test and independent t-test using spss no. 21 software.
Results: There was a significant difference between the components of emotional intelligence in two groups recovered from covid-19 and healthy people (p<0.05), so that people who recovered from covid-19 obtained lower scores in the variables of self-awareness and empathy. But in the variables of self-control, self-motivation and social skills, the healthy group had a higher score.
Conclusion: In order to improve the mental health of people after contracting the Covid-19 disease, it is suggested to use the psychological intervention of emotional intelligence training in the design of treatment programs for these patients.
