Abstract

Background: The main objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and emotional intelligence among Isfahan state hospital’s nurses.

Materials and Methods: Methodology used in the study was descriptive - correlational. The statistical population included all nurses in Isfahan state hospital who were selected as the target population from which a sample of 30 were selected by cluster sampling. Measurement tools used in this study were two researchers-made questionnaires (Job Satisfaction and Emotional Intelligence) drawing upon a five point Likert scale. The validity of the instrument, estimated by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient formula, was 0.89 and 0.86. Descriptive statistical techniques such as mean‚ standard deviation along with inferential statistical measures like correlation coefficient were employed to analyze the data.

Results: The findings revealed that there is a significant correlation between job satisfaction and factors such as spontaneity, empathy, self–knowledge, self-control, and social skills.

Conclusion: Emotional intelligence as a benchmark and indicator in humans’ mental health has a positive impact on job satisfaction.

Abstract

Introduction: The management of job-related stress and the improvement of self-efficacy in health care workers are essential for promoting health-care services. The aim of this study was to determine the efficiency of stress management group therapy in job stress and self-efficacy of nurses.

Method: This was a quasi-experimental study conducted on 20 nurses (of Nohom Day Hospital in Torbat Heydariyeh) who were selected through convenience sampling and assigned into two intervention and control groups randomly. The intervention group participated in 8 sessions of stress management group therapy and the control group received no intervention. Data analyses were performed using descriptive statistics and independent and dependent t-test by SPSS 21.

Results: The mean and standard deviation of participants' age in the intervention and control group were 38.00±6.24, 36.00±8.5, respectively. After the intervention, there was a significant difference in the mean scores of job stress and self-efficacy between control and intervention groups (p< 0.0001).

Conclusion: It can be concluded that performing stress management group therapy among nurses can reduce job stress and increase self-efficacy. Therefore, it is recommended that this useful and effective approach be employed for empowering the workforce in the health system.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Job burnout is common in caring professionals; and high levels of the same are registered in healthcare professionals, especially, nurses in intensive care units. The purpose of this study was to determine the burnout among nurses working in intensive care units affiliated to educational and therapeutic centers of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
Method: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study, which was undergone through a census sampling method in hospitals related to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (n = 80) in the year 2011. Data were collected by Maslach Job Wear Inventory (MBI). The data were analyzed using SPSS 11.5 software.
Results: The mean of severity of depersonalization, emotional analysis and lack of individual success were 9.20 ± 5.25, 25.32 ± 12.57, 35 ± 8.27 respectively. In addition, age (r=-0.49) and work experience(r=-0.48) have a reverse linear relationship with the severity of the lack of individual success (p = 0.001).
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a high level of occupational burnout, especially in the aspect of individual inefficiency among nurses in special departments. Due to the high importance of these departments, more attention must be paid by the authorities to this workforce. Moreover, nurses should also be allowed to participate in organizational decision-making, which can prevent burnout and its complications to a high degree.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Nurses are the largest group of users of hospital information system and understanding their experiences in the use of this tool has a significant impact on the success or failure of it and ultimately, the quality of care for patients. The aim of this study was to explain the experiences of nurses for using hospital information system in educational hospitals of Tabriz in 2015.
Methods: The present study was carried out using qualitative and phenomenological approach. Participants included 14 nurses who were selected by purposeful sampling method. The data were collected by using deep interviews. After obtaining informed consent of the participants, interviews were recorded. For analyzing the data, seven-stage Colaizzi method was used.
Results: After analyzing the data, a total of 460 primary codes, 9 sub-themes and 2 main themes were revealed: 1- structural deficiencies of the hospital information system 2- Hospital information system efficiency in nursing care.
Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate the positive effects of using HIS in promoting patient care; however, disadvantages such as re-work, neglecting patient bedside and system-related problems were also reported by nurses using HIS. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance the facilitation factors and fix the hardware and software deficiencies of this system in order to increase its efficiency in improving the care and also the use of portable PCs connected to the HIS system.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Improving nurses' job satisfaction plays an important role in improving the quality of nursing care services. Nurses' leadership style is one of the most important factors affecting nurses' job satisfaction. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of transformational and transactional leadership training to head nurses on nurses' job satisfaction.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study of two training styles (transformational leadership and transactional leadership styles) was conducted with the participation of 11 head nurses and 216 staff nurses from Imam Reza (AS) and Ghaem (AS) hospitals in Mashhad. The transformational and transactional leadership styles were taught to two groups of head nurses within six two-hour training and practical sessions in one month. The job satisfaction questionnaire was completed by staff nurses before the intervention and one month later. The results of the questionnaires were compared between groups, before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21.
Results: Nurses’ Job satisfaction increased in the both transformational (p <0.001) and transactional (p = 0.033) groups after the intervention However, it was higher in the transformational management group compared to the transactional management group.
Conclusion: Full-range leadership styles training including transformational- transactional and Laissez-faire leads to a further increase in job satisfaction of staff nurses.

Abstract

Background & Aim: Currently, Covid-19 crisis as the biggest global health challenge has caused health anxiety and fear of COVID-19 among nurses that affect patient care. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dimensions of the concept of fear of corona fear in nurses, define its features and functions in nursing.
Methods: Walker and Avant's (2011) concept analysis method was used to analyze the concept of fear of Covid-19 fear among nurses. Walker and Avant concept analysis method was used to analyze the concept of fear of Covid-19. The following keywords: fear, Corona, COVID-19, and nurses were searched without time limitation in the English-language online databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINHAL, and Ovid. Finally, a number of 23 articles were included in the study.
Results: Being unfamiliar with Covid-19, lack of enough knowledge about  it, fear of getting infected, death or transmit the disease to others, lack of support from upper management or the organization, high costs treatment, various aspects of personal protective equipment, increasing workload and exacerbating the  nursing staff shortage are the characteristics of fear of Covid-19 fear.
Conclusion: Understanding the dimensions of the concept of fear of corona fear in nurses helps to manage and control this fear. These data can also be used as conceptual foundations in the future research

Abstract

Background & Aim: breaking the law in caring for patients is one of the important and main pillars of ethical principles in nursing. This study was conducted in the form of a qualitative study in order to examine the experiences of law-breaking nurses in patient care
Methods: In this qualitative study, 15 experienced nurses from the Valiasr research educational center affiliated to the Birjand University of Medical Sciences, living in 1401 South, participated in this qualitative study. The sampling method was purposeful and collected through semi-structured individual interviews. The method of qualitative analysis was phenomenology with Man Vanen and with the help of 10MAXQDA software.
Results: interviews with the participants regarding business in breaking the law in nursing care, the emergence of two main classes: the first class is escape from punishment and the second class: inattention of the authorities, escape from punishment: which includes 3 classes: a) forced silence b) illness c) Compulsory lawlessness and the second class, which recklessly took its officials, including the two subclasses of mutual retaliation and slave nurse.
Conclusion: The results showed that there is a positive positive error report in nursing and it should be strengthened more and above all in nursing and human rights in nursing should be implemented by the authorities to protect nurses. Not enforcing the rules by nursing officials.
