Background & Aim: Enterobius vermicularis is the most common helminthic infection in children. This study aims to determine the prevalence of Enterobiasis in kindergarten children in Lahijan city.
Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study used the Graham strip test to sample 267 children aged 2 to 6 years. The collected samples were examined and the data were analyzed using SPSS software. Chi-square statistical tests were conducted at a significance level of 5%.
Results: Out of the 267 children who were tested, 121 (45.3%) were male and 146 (54.7%) were female. Additionally, 5 individuals (1.9 %) tested positive for parasite, with 1 being a boy and 4 being girls. The findings indicated that there was no significant correlation between parents' education level and the presence of Enterobiasis (P> 0.05). However, a significant difference was observed in location of parents' residence (P< 0.005).
Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate a significant reduction in parasite infection within society. Therefore, given the importance of medicine and improving overall health, the root cause of the disease can be eliminated.
